Hazelwood Coal Mine

Drilling and Installation of VW piezometers Hazelwood power station supplies 25% of Victoria’s Base Load Electricity, the attached coal mine produces 18 million tonnes of brown coal annually with the perimeter of the open cut mine being 14.5 km. Due to ground movement in the upper batters Chadwick Geotechnics are engaged to drill angled boreholes to 200 meters. Upon completion of these bore holes vibrating wire piezometers and other specialist instrumentation are installed to further monitor any ground movement.
