Chadwick Geotechnics has received approval from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) that allows us to receive and test soil and rock samples that enter the country under quarantine conditions.  The laboratory is classed as a 5.1 Quarantine Containment Level 1 (QC1) facility and has been set up initially to complete laboratory testing on soil/rock samples from Antarctica, but it is envisaged that this will expand as news spreads of our ability to test imported soil samples.

In June 2012, Chadwick Geotechnics was contracted to supply one of our Senior Field Engineers, Matt Noonan, to a Consortium that were undertaking a feasibility study for the design of a tailings dam, haul roads and processing plant in Papua New Guinea. The role included management of the geotechnical works to drill a series of boreholes to 50m for the processing plant.

After a hectic few days in the Exhibition Halls at the Crown Conference Centre, we are now back in the office and laboratory catching our collective breaths, the ANZ Conference on Geomechanics ‘done and dusted’ for the next 4 years!

ANZ 2012 is the regional conference of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and is held approximately every 4 years.

• Tonkin & Taylor Pty Ltd (professional consulting services)
  

Chadwick Geotechnics has recently restructured to form two separate companies: Chadwick Geotechnics and Tonkin & Taylor Pty Ltd. Chadwick Geotechnics will continue to provide site investigations, drilling, pavement and geotechnical testing services.

2009 marks the 50th year of operations for the Tonkin & Taylor Group, which Chadwick Geotechnics is a part of!  The T&T Group has certainly come a long way since two engineers, working at different ends of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in New Zealand in 1959, decided to combine their expertise, experience and entrepreneurial skills!

Peter John Mulholland, a long-standing employee at Chadwick T&T, lost his long battle with cancer on 26 July 2007.
