MELBOURNE CBD ISCO Injection Project
Chadwick Geotechnics has recently successfully completed a 90,000lt Injection project in Melbourne’s CBD. To ensure the project was completed within the very tight timeline we had 2 teams, one on day shift and one on night shift operating our ISCO (In-Situ Chemical Oxidisation) unit enabling us to have the unit operational for 18 hours a day for a 3 week period.
For those of you unfamiliar with our ISCO unit it involves the mixing of strong oxidising chemicals, which, when injected into the ground catalyse the destruction of organic contaminants in-situ.
The project involved the use of open holes, inflatable packers, dedicated mixing and pumping units, and safe handling methods for oxidising agents and activator chemicals.
The works were completed on an active building site with minimal disruption to the incumbent building contractor with controls implemented to protect worker safety.
With such new technology the site had a variety of interested visitors over the 3 weeks including environmental consultants, auditors and EPA representatives.
Chadwick Geotechnics welcome enquiries from consulting firms and or firms with groundwater contamination issues where the use of direct ground injection technologies are appropriate for remediation of sub-surface soil and groundwater.
Regardless of the geological profile that is encountered at the site, Chadwick Geotechnics has plant and equipment to facilitate injection works safely, efficiently and to the consultant’s specification. For more information on our ISCO capabilities please contact Simon Tant on 0438 518 043.
