Chadwick Geotechnics expands drilling fleet

November 2011

Chadwick Geotechnics is pleased to introduce our latest acquisition, the AMS Powerprobe 9570-VTR Multipurpose Track Mounted Drill Rig.

This new rig was commissioned in October 2011 and is suited to both geotechnical and environmental investigations.  It is currently the only machine of its type in Australia.

The Powerprobe has significantly boosted our environmental drilling capabilities and has also extended our geotechnical drilling capabilities. With the increase in recent rainfall and therefore difficult site access, the Powerprobe has increased our ability to get onto the more difficult sites safely giving our clients the confidence to get their projects delivered on time, on budget and most importantly safely.

The Powerprobe significantly extends our direct push abilities and already, over a range of sites across Victoria, we have achieved excellent penetration and recovery results. Using our 3.5 inch direct push system it has the capability to SPT through the centre of its direct push rods, allowing quick operation and accurate logging from the continuous sample tubes.

It is controlled by remote control for tracking, which allows the operator to keep a safe distance from the machine and have a clear view when moving the rig into position.  The rig is equipped with a fixed SPT, eliminating any manual handling issues involved in getting it into position. Once positioned on a hole the rig does not need to be moved when switching between different drilling applications.  The direct push hammer, auger and SPT all work over the same alignment.

This rig is best suited to continuous sampling, auger and SPT due to its quick set up time between methodologies. It is capable of running CPT and Direct Imaging equipment and is mounted on rubber tracks allowing it to access areas conventional equipment cannot.

With the combination of competitive pricing solutions and the latest equipment, we are extremely confident that we will be able to fulfil our clients needs to the highest quality and safest standards.
